Thai National Team Secures 2nd Runner-Up in 20 cm “Drone Soccer” Competition at Shenzhen UAV Expo 2025

The Thailand Unmanned Aircraft Association sent a team of three Thai athletes to compete in the 20 cm “Drone Soccer” event at the Shenzhen UAV Expo 2025, held from May 23–25, 2025, in Shenzhen, People’s Republic of China. The competition was organized by AOPA China (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association of China), a leading organization in Chinese civil aviation.

This participation was made possible through the primary support of Drone Academic (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and Siam Airport Ground Services Co., Ltd., along with the collaboration and encouragement from parents within the association’s network, who recognize the potential of Thai youth in technology and unmanned aerial sports.

Thai National Team Members:

  • Mr. Rattanun Namsaard (Team Captain)
  • Master Tawatt Sansuthat (Member)
  • Master Assal Yaprjan (Member)

20 cm Drone Soccer Competition Format:

  • Played in an indoor arena-like structure with a netted enclosure.
  • Utilizes spherical drones with a diameter not exceeding 20 centimeters.
  • Competitors must control their team’s drones to pass through the opponent’s “goal” to score points.
  • Points are awarded based on the number of successful goals within the allotted time.
  • The competition consists of group stages, semifinals, and finals.

Participating Countries (5 in total):

  • China
  • Hong Kong and Macau
  • Ghana
  • South Africa
  • Thailand

With approximately 20 teams from around the world participating, the competition atmosphere was lively and exciting throughout the event.

After intense competition, the Thai national team advanced to the finals and proudly secured the 2nd runner-up position, bringing honor and inspiration to Thai youth in aviation technology and modern sports.
